THE STORY
The waterfront Park Hill neighborhood sits on the north shore of New York’s Staten Island borough. In the 1960s, the privately owned Park Hill Apartments were built to attract a population from other NYC boroughs. The neighborhood struggled to maintain and the apartments became a federally subsidized low-income housing project. The Park Hill neighborhood helped shape the message drawn out in the lyrics of the Wu-Tang Clan as members Method Man, UGod, Inspectah Deck, and Raekwon were all brought up under its shadow and influence.
